The number of sales of single family homes were off by 4% in Newton, MA. Specifically comparing January through November 2009 v. 2008. Looking at the data, we can see that almost all of the drop came in the $1.5M to $1.9M range. The higher end took the biggest hit. The number of sales of condos were off by 11% which is a more significant change. Only 4 condos sold above a $1M whereas last year 13 sold. It could be that buyers that in other years would have bought condos found single family houses within their financial grasp. |
